Shelby just graduated from the University of Florida, and studied sports and news broadcasting. She hopes to work in sports one day. She also has an interest in surfing and enjoys watching WSL (World Surf League). She has been surfing since she was 4 years old and considers that to be a big part of her life and aspires to incorporate that into her career. She also competed for and was captain of the University of Florida’s surf team.
She was extremely involved at UF, including the branch of Association Women in Sports Media club, National Broadcasting Society club, Wahines of the Waves and UF’s surf club. She was also on WUFT’S channel 5 as a reporter on Tuesday’s.
She did ESPN Radio of Gainesville and “Sports in 60” for the local news in Gainesville. She also worked for Bronson Speedway as the announcer for strictly stock races. She interned with Channel 4 News in Jacksonville during the summer of 2016 and focused on news and sports reporting. She was able to create a reel and get in front of the camera experience for the first time. She also interned for the Buddy Martin Show in Ocala for sports talk radio.
She will continue to gain experience in her every day work. She enjoys surfing, running and also goes to gator games on weekends. She also travels as much as her busy schedule permits. So far she has tackled 46 states and 13 countries, and plans to visit Italy for her next big trip!
